Volkswagen is no longer just looking to make its cars more automated — it’s making its ad buying decisions automated, too. The automaker recently announced that it was using artificial intelligence (AI) to make Volkswagen ad buying decisions, and it’s proving more effective than its media agency.
Currently, the brand has been taking recommendations from two agencies — Blackwood Seven, a Danish agency that uses AI and predictive analytics to forecast ad spend decisions, and its usual media agency. The brand has found that when it follows Blackwood Seven’s recommendations, it sells more cars.
Between September and December 2016, when Volkswagen first began using the Danish agency, the brand saw a 14% rise in orders during a campaign for its up! The model compared to the campaign that was run based on the non-AI-focused agency’s recommendations. In other campaigns, the difference between the two recommendations has been as high as 20% — a number that we here at Sierra Volkswagen find impressive.
Blackwood Sevens stands apart from the other agencies Volkswagen uses because the AI platform is able to process a significant amount of data at any one time. This means the algorithm can better predict what the brand’s media investments will do, leading the German carmaker to be able to invest less and see more profit in return.
Crossover SUVs are the hottest-selling cars on the market today and for good reason. Drivers love crossovers because they offer the versatility of an SUV, but they retain the superb handling and maneuverability of a car. This is the niche filled by the all-new 2018 Volkswagen Atlas, the brand’s boldest, biggest, most advanced offering to date. If you’re looking for something truly new in the crossover SUV segment, the 2018 Volkswagen Atlas has a lot to offer.
The 2018 Atlas features a robustly sculpted body design that will be familiar to drivers in the US, though it sports plenty of premium, sophisticated details we’ve come to expect from VW. And since it’s brand new for 2018, the Atlas is equipped with more incredible technology features than any other VW vehicle. Aside from features such as an available eight-inch touchscreen display, Apple CarPlay™, and Android Auto™, the 2018 Atlas sports a brand new 12.3-inch fully customizable digital cockpit, which makes staying in tune with your vehicle and in touch with the world around you more intuitive than ever before.
The 2018 Atlas is luxuriously comfortable, even for passengers in the third row of seating, and premium available features such as heated and ventilated seats make for an even more comfortable experience for you and your passengers. The all-new Atlas also scored top marks on all IIHS crash tests, so you can drive this modern and advanced crossover with complete confidence.

Finding the right dealership to take care of your car can be tough, but rest assured that here at Sierra Volkswagen, taking care of cars is what we do each and every day. From routine maintenance to major repairs, there’s nothing we can’t handle. With fall rolling in, now is the perfect time to put us to the test. Here are some things to do this fall at your Volkswagen dealer to ready your car for winter, according to the experts at CarCare.org.
Check the Hoses
Hoses aren’t a part that generally causes major concern among drivers. While it’s possible to check the hoses for signs of cracks, fraying, and looseness, it can be fairly difficult to locate them all. Fortunately, we’ve got your back. Certified technicians know the location of each and every hose and belt, allowing them to easily spot potential problems.
Check the Tires
While checking the tire pressure and tread is something you can do at home, signs of uneven wear can be a little hard to detect. Unaligned wheels can lead to uneven wear, causing you to have to replace your tires sooner rather than later. You can easily come into Sierra VW to make sure there are no problems with your tires.
Check the Fluids
Checking the fluids is something that should be done prior to every winter season. There are quite a few fluids to check, and once again, your local Volkswagen dealer is more than capable of getting the job done.
Just let us know if you have any questions about winter car care and we’d be happy to help!

You might choose this wagon for its performance, but you’ll be delightfully surprised by the dozens of features and technologies that make it connected and comfortable. Those new plans will completely redefine the electric minivan into something even cooler. I mean, how many other automakers can say that they’ve designed an electric Microbus? The I.D. Buzz will be the size of a large crossover or small SUV, but with a completely unique design.
The Buzz made its debut at the Detroit auto show last January and entertained people with its unique look. There’s also plenty of efficiency in this all-electric car. The EPA estimated that, on the road, the Buzz would get about 270 miles in range.
The Microbus is also expected to have self-driving modes, which is basically a smarter version of cruise control to make every road trip easier.
For VW division chief, Herbert Diess, it’s not just about efficiency: “Emotional cars are very important for the brand,” Diess said.
Right now, you can only look at pictures of the VW Microbus. But don’t worry, it’s coming! VW is set to release the Microbus in 2021 or 2022. So, in the meantime, dream about the nostalgia you’ll feel behind the wheel of this modern, Beatles-style vehicle.
Finding the right summer activity to make the most of the lazy summer days isn’t easy. That’s why we here at Sierra Volkswagen have some recommended fun summer activities that you should take part in at least once in the coming months!
Sleep in a Hammock
Pass the time by setting up a hammock between a couple of trees and staying cool in the shade. A cool breeze certainly helps, but any afternoon in the shade can be enjoyable in a hammock! Grab a book (or a pillow), kick back, and relax.
Enjoy the Summer Sun
One of the best ways to enjoy summer is to simply get out there and experience it to the fullest. Relax and get a tan in the yard or visit a park and get in touch with nature. Take your lunch on the back porch on a Saturday afternoon and have a picnic lunch with some friends. Summer offers plenty of opportunities for those who are willing to put themselves out there. Get out of the house and soak up the summer sun this season!
Spend Time Grilling
Holding a family barbecue is a great summer activity that families enjoy. Try a few new recipes or keep up with a family recipe that you’ve enjoyed for years. If you’re feeling particularly chatty, it never hurts to invite the neighbors!
Summer lends itself perfectly to outdoor activities, so take advantage of the upcoming summer months and spend some time soaking up the sun!
Financing a new vehicle doesn’t mean committing to a single set of credit terms. Direct lending and dealership lending offer customers more options than ever before. From knowing the credit terms in advance to pure convenience, finding the right financing option is much easier in the modern market. Here’s a quick rundown of direct lending versus dealership lending from our team here at Sierra Volkswagen.
Direct lending involves signing a contract with a financial institution, like a bank or finance company. The contract states that you agree to pay the loaned amount plus interest over a specific period of time. The loan is used to pay the dealership for a vehicle.
This type of lending offers a few advantages, namely the ability to compare credit terms among lenders. You can also ask the financial institution for more information and to negotiate more specific terms.
Getting a loan from a dealership is called dealership lending. As the name implies, you sign a contract stating that you agree to repay the amount financed plus a finance charge over a specific period of time. The dealership can then retain or sell the contract to another financial institution.
Dealership lending offers in-house convenience thanks to extended hours. A dealership’s relationship with surrounding financial institutions can lead to a range of options. Some automotive manufacturers even offer special financing rates through certified dealerships.
