Finding the right dealership to take care of your car can be tough, but rest assured that here at Sierra Volkswagen, taking care of cars is what we do each and every day. From routine maintenance to major repairs, there’s nothing we can’t handle. With fall rolling in, now is the perfect time to put us to the test. Here are some things to do this fall at your Volkswagen dealer to ready your car for winter, according to the experts at CarCare.org.
Check the Hoses
Hoses aren’t a part that generally causes major concern among drivers. While it’s possible to check the hoses for signs of cracks, fraying, and looseness, it can be fairly difficult to locate them all. Fortunately, we’ve got your back. Certified technicians know the location of each and every hose and belt, allowing them to easily spot potential problems.
Check the Tires
While checking the tire pressure and tread is something you can do at home, signs of uneven wear can be a little hard to detect. Unaligned wheels can lead to uneven wear, causing you to have to replace your tires sooner rather than later. You can easily come into Sierra VW to make sure there are no problems with your tires.
Check the Fluids
Checking the fluids is something that should be done prior to every winter season. There are quite a few fluids to check, and once again, your local Volkswagen dealer is more than capable of getting the job done.
Just let us know if you have any questions about winter car care and we’d be happy to help!

You might choose this wagon for its performance, but you’ll be delightfully surprised by the dozens of features and technologies that make it connected and comfortable. Play your favorite tunes through the available Fender® Premium Audio System, or connect your smartphone with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
The Golf Alltrack is plenty safe, too. Thanks to its safety cage, its Automatic Post-Collision Braking System, and other tools, it received a 5-Star Safety Rating from the NHTSA and was a 2017 IIHS Top Safety Pick when equipped with Front Assist.
Those new plans will completely redefine the electric minivan into something even cooler. I mean, how many other automakers can say that they’ve designed an electric Microbus? The I.D. Buzz will be the size of a large crossover or small SUV, but with a completely unique design.
The Buzz made its debut at the Detroit auto show last January and entertained people with its unique look. There’s also plenty of efficiency in this all-electric car. The EPA estimated that, on the road, the Buzz would get about 270 miles in range.
The Microbus is also expected to have self-driving modes, which is basically a smarter version of cruise control to make every road trip easier.
For VW division chief, Herbert Diess, it’s not just about efficiency: “Emotional cars are very important for the brand,” Diess said.
Right now, you can only look at pictures of the VW Microbus. But don’t worry, it’s coming! VW is set to release the Microbus in 2021 or 2022. So, in the meantime, dream about the nostalgia you’ll feel behind the wheel of this modern, Beatles-style vehicle.
Finding the right summer activity to make the most of the lazy summer days isn’t easy. That’s why we here at Sierra Volkswagen have some recommended fun summer activities that you should take part in at least once in the coming months!
Sleep in a Hammock
Pass the time by setting up a hammock between a couple of trees and staying cool in the shade. A cool breeze certainly helps, but any afternoon in the shade can be enjoyable in a hammock! Grab a book (or a pillow), kick back, and relax.
Enjoy the Summer Sun
One of the best ways to enjoy summer is to simply get out there and experience it to the fullest. Relax and get a tan in the yard or visit a park and get in touch with nature. Take your lunch on the back porch on a Saturday afternoon and have a picnic lunch with some friends. Summer offers plenty of opportunities for those who are willing to put themselves out there. Get out of the house and soak up the summer sun this season!
Spend Time Grilling
Holding a family barbecue is a great summer activity that families enjoy. Try a few new recipes or keep up with a family recipe that you’ve enjoyed for years. If you’re feeling particularly chatty, it never hurts to invite the neighbors!
Summer lends itself perfectly to outdoor activities, so take advantage of the upcoming summer months and spend some time soaking up the sun!
Financing a new vehicle doesn’t mean committing to a single set of credit terms. Direct lending and dealership lending offer customers more options than ever before. From knowing the credit terms in advance to pure convenience, finding the right financing option is much easier in the modern market. Here’s a quick rundown of direct lending versus dealership lending from our team here at Sierra Volkswagen.
Direct lending involves signing a contract with a financial institution, like a bank or finance company. The contract states that you agree to pay the loaned amount plus interest over a specific period of time. The loan is used to pay the dealership for a vehicle.
This type of lending offers a few advantages, namely the ability to compare credit terms among lenders. You can also ask the financial institution for more information and to negotiate more specific terms.
Getting a loan from a dealership is called dealership lending. As the name implies, you sign a contract stating that you agree to repay the amount financed plus a finance charge over a specific period of time. The dealership can then retain or sell the contract to another financial institution.
Dealership lending offers in-house convenience thanks to extended hours. A dealership’s relationship with surrounding financial institutions can lead to a range of options. Some automotive manufacturers even offer special financing rates through certified dealerships.

Volkswagen recently revealed the 2018 Golf Family at the New York International Auto Show. Models include the standard Golf, Alltrack, GTI, SportWagen, and R models. There have been updates to the interior and exterior styling, infotainment technologies, and driver assistance systems, as well as some minor changes under the hood. We can’t wait to see the new Golf Family in action.
According to Volkswagen, the Golf Family will get sharper lines, new bumpers, chrome trim, and LED lighting. The brand is also adding Daytime Running Lights to improve visibility, while wheel designs and colors have also been revamped for 2018. The interior will have new trim panels and special materials, making driving more comfortable.
Notable tech upgrades include things like an improved touchscreen as well as the Volkswagen Digital Cockpit. The Golf Family will get this optional customizable vehicle information system that’s built into the dashboard, a feature that comes standard on the Golf R. Meanwhile, SE trims and above will get available Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking, both of which significantly reduce the risk of collision.
The standard Golf has a 1.8-liter TSI engine with up to 170 horsepower and 199 lb-ft of torque. The Alltrack and SportWagen get 4Motion all-wheel drive, while the GTI has a 2.0-liter TSI with 220 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The R has a specially tuned powertrain with up to 292 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque, as well as an optional seven-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission. These are just some of the great new features on the 2018 Golf Family. Stop by Sierra Volkswagen to learn more about the Golf.
There are certain vehicles in the history of automobiles that call a particular era to mind. Few of them, however, are as strong as the Volkswagen camper van and its association with the 1960s and 1970s. These quirky, two-toned, colorful vans never really went out of style and have been even more popular in recent years as “van life” becomes a more common way of life.
Now hippies and van lovers near and far will be delighted to hear that the VW camper van is back again as a new concept vehicle. However, this time the VW camper van is returning with a futuristic twist. Not only does this new emission-free camper van run on two electric motors, it will also be a self-driving vehicle. The van is designed so that the steering wheel can retract into the cockpit with the push of a VW logo button, allowing the van to pilot autonomously. This would be made possible by scanners, radar sensors, and a camera monitor.
This I.D. concept van debuted at this year’s Detroit Auto Show. As of now, it’s nothing more than a supremely futuristic concept van. But as the VW I.D. car is expected to be on the market in 2020, it’s always possible that the concept will be carried out. This may just be what the future of camping looks like, but only time will tell if we’ll have autonomous VW vans at Sierra Volkswagen some day!
Keeping your car up and running at peak performance is as easy as keeping it properly maintained. While that may sound like a challenge for many drivers, properly taking care of your vehicle can be done through simple maintenance; you can even do it in your own garage. Here are a few preventative car maintenance tips from us here at Sierra Volkswagen.
Check the Oil – Your car’s engine will only run for years if it gets regular oil changes. While most manufacturers include a service schedule that indicates when an oil change is required, it never hurts to check it yourself. Simply pop the hood, pull the dipstick out, and wipe it off with a cloth or paper towel. Reinsert it and remove it again. Make sure the oil is between the two lines at the end of the dipstick.
Check the Battery – A battery’s lifespan varies depending on the climate you live in. Fortunately, extending its lifespan is as easy as cleaning the contacts. Invest in a battery cleaning brush and battery tester or jump starter. Clean up the contacts and look for any bulges or bumps.
Tire Rotations – Your car’s tires should generally be rotated at the same time your car needs an oil change. Tire rotations extend the lifespan of the set of tires, provide a smoother ride, and you can do it at home! Check your owner’s manual for instructions.
These tips should help keep your car in great shape through the years. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at any time!
