2016 Volkswagen Golf R Review

2016 Volkswagen Golf R

The 2016 Volkswagen Golf R is an award-winning model that just doesn’t quit. Offering plenty of power, all-wheel drive, and excellent fuel economy, it’s an all-around fantastic car for those who want to put a thrill back in their daily drive. Just in case you’re in doubt, here’s a quick review of the 2016 Volkswagen Golf R!

Starting at $39,815, the Golf R offers a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that puts out an impressive 292 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. Mated to a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, it offers precise handling and admirable power. Earning an EPA-estimated 23 city/30 hwy mpg, it’s pretty good on fuel economy as well.

The Golf R offers 82 more hp and all-wheel drive when compared to the lower GTI. In addition to a more power and handling, the Golf R also comes with sport seats, bigger brakes, ambient lighting, and R instruments. Build quality, as one would expect, is at the top of the automotive market.

Outside, the Volkswagen Golf R offers 18-inch aluminum wheels, side skirts, four chrome exhaust tips, and a rock-solid chassis. Cheaper than the Audi S3, the Golf R offers many of the main features in its closest competitor, making it an easy choice for the economy-conscious buyer.
