If there is an SUV we can’t get enough of, it’s the Volkswagen Touareg. Refined, dependable, capable, powerful, and sophisticated, we just can’t get enough. Now, autobuild.de is reporting that the next-gen Volkswagen Touareg is headed our way in 2017. (Can’t read that link? Us either. We’ll assume World Car Fans’ interpretation is accurate.)
According to World Car Fans, the new Volkswagen Touareg will sit on the same platform that underpins the Audi Q7 and the Bentley Bentayga. It will reportedly be larger than the outgoing model, and will even be capable of accommodating a third row of seats, making it more practical and capable than ever.
But that’s not all. A new 300 hp diesel V6 is expected, along with a 325 hp gasoline V6 and a plug-in
hybrid variant. The plug-in hybrid variant would likely put to use the same powertrain as the Audi Q7 e-tron, which includes a 3.0-liter TDI six-cylinder diesel engine, an electric motor, and a lithium-ion battery.
